Iconic Gashouder in Amsterdam setting for FIBA 3x3 World Tour Masters!
On Friday 6 and Saturday 7 October, the 3X3 Unites foundation will organize the second edition of the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Masters in the Netherlands. The iconic Gashouder on the Westergasterrein in Amsterdam West, is the location where this spectacular event will take place. The event is part of FIBA's most prestigious global competition. This means that also this year the best players in the world will come to the Netherlands to compete for prizes and points on the world ranking list.
For Jesper Jobse, co-founder of 3X3 Unites and former international, the Gashouder is a dream venue. "As a player, I have always shouted that the Gashouder is the perfect place for a high-level 3x3 tournament. The building something magical.
With its special industrial look and professional equipment as an event venue, the Gashouder has everything to bring 3x3 to the world at the next level.
After Amsterdam was announced as the host city two weeks ago, news of the Gashouder as a venue now follows. "We are going to do everything we can to offer visitors a totally new live basketball experience" Mark Schuurman, also co-founder 3X3 Unites, continues. "We strive in all our events to create an unforgettable experience for the visitors, the players and the organization.
With the Gashouder as our backdrop, we have a dream location to facilitate this. We are excited to work with our partners to develop an experience that brings out the ultimate beauty of this location and of the sport."
On October 6 and 7, world's top 3x3 circuit will visit the capital. October is also the last month in which points can be earned for the FIBA country rankings in the route to Olympic qualification for Paris 2024.
Based on this country ranking, the top three countries qualify directly for the games. "We hope that our Dutch players see this as the ideal opportunity to successfully enter that final month in front of their own audience," said Jobse.
The roots of the 3X3 Unites foundation are in Amsterdam. The foundation's first social program started here in 2016, in cooperation with the City of Amsterdam. "That we can now create this unique experience in the Gashouder with our inspired team, which includes many young people from that first program, is very beautiful. Besides creating a very special event, it allows us to offer the young people from our community a platform in the organization and create a legacy that will have an impact for a long time to come.
More news about the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Amsterdam Masters 2023 will follow in the coming weeks.
