3X3 Unites wants to reach even more young people with help from Postcode loterij

3X3 Unites has received a check for 500,000 euros from the Postcode Lottery. With the money, the foundation plans to continue building on their mission over the next three years to empower vulnerable youth and develop their talents through 3x3 basketball. “Fantastic that we receive recognition for our work from the Postcode Lottery. The Postcode Lottery supports wonderful organizations in the Netherlands and it is an honor to be part of this. This support gives us the opportunity to make much more sustainable impact,” says Jesper Jobse, co-founder of 3X3 Unites.

He was handed the check by Worthy de Jong. The best 3x3 basketball player in the world and ambassador of 3X3 Unites definitely put the sport on the map in the Netherlands in the summer of 2024. With his winning point in the final, De Jong gave the Dutch 3x3 basketball players a historic Olympic gold medal.

3X3 Unites
De Jong is the personification of what 3X3 Unites stands for. He grew up in the Bijlmer, where he could often be found on the squares with a basketball. He eventually made it to Olympic champion. It matches the motto of 3X3 Unites: from the street to the top.

3X3 Unites uses 3x3 basketball as a flywheel for social projects to help young people find future prospects and jobs. Young people are trained through the 3X3 Leader Course to become 3X3 Leaders and are given the opportunity to each make it to the top in their own way. From podcast maker to clothing designer to videographer to event organizer.

The latter, organizing basketball events, is an important part of 3X3 Unites. From local games on neighborhood squares to major international tournaments. For the third time this year, 3X3 Unites is organizing the World Tour Amsterdam Masters, where the best 3x3 basketball players in the world compete against each other. During the event, the youth of 3X3 Unites will also have the opportunity to participate and showcase their talents.

Admiration
Jonne Arnoldussen, managing director Postcode Lottery: 'It is with great admiration that we see how 3X3 Unites manages to reach young people and bring them together through sport. The organization's work fits seamlessly with our own mission to have a positive impact on society. We are proud to be able to contribute to the important work that 3X3 Unites does thanks to our participants.
