3X3 Unites and Westergas Officially Partner: ‘Leaving an Even Larger Positive Social Impact’

After the successful 3x3 FIBA World Tour Amsterdam Masters in the Gashouder last year, both parties have now entered into an official partnership. This collaboration with Westergas will showcase the entire 3X3 Unites ecosystem: from the streets to the top. In addition to the World Tour Amsterdam Masters 2024, where the best 3x3 basketball players in the world will compete on October 12 and 13, both parties aim to make a social impact through art, music, fashion, and sports.

On the evening of Tuesday, August 27, 3X3 Unites and Westergas will host a free event where the entire ecosystem will come together, and the partnership will be celebrated. The event will include the start of a 3X3 Leader Course, the 1-on-1 Next Fights Finals in the Transformatorhuis, and visitors will get a preview of where a pop-up Legacy Art Court will be located in Westerpark.

The Legacy Art Court is a temporary basketball court in Westerpark that will be adorned with paintings. 3X3 Unites aims to bring basketball back to neighborhood courts and believes that well-designed and attractive courts encourage and motivate 3x3 basketball. Together with its partners, 3X3 Unites strives to give every community its own ‘home.’

But that's not all for the evening: in Westerpark, the Olympic champions of the Dutch 3x3 basketball team will be honored in front of 3x3 basketball partners. They achieved the highest honor by winning gold in Paris.

‘We’re literally showing everyone who wants to see it: from the streets to the top,’ says Mark Schuurman on behalf of 3X3 Unites. ‘Westergas aligns perfectly with this vision, as they are also committed to development at a high level. Together, we’re not only organizing the most spectacular 3x3 World Tour of 2024, but through this partnership, we’re also ensuring a legacy where we leave an even larger positive social impact.’

According to Schuurman, the partnership with Westergas is the perfect example of how collaboration can happen on different levels. ‘We’re training local youth and creating spaces like the pop-up Legacy Art Court in Westerpark where they can develop their talents—both on and off the court. Additionally, they’re helping organize the second edition of the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Amsterdam Masters in the Gashouder, where the best 3x3 basketball players in the world, including our own Olympic champions, will be showcased.’

The event on Tuesday, August 27, is free to attend, and the program is as follows:

  • 6:00 PM - 6:30 PM: Visit from Olympic champions to the 3x3 Leader Course at the pop-up location in development (next to TonTon Club)
  • 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM: Team NL Celebration
  • 8:00 PM - 9:00 PM: 1x1 NEXT Fight Finals in Transformatorhuis
